Sônia Nair Báo
Degree in Biological Sciences by Regional University of the Northwest of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (1982), Master's Degree in Cellular and Structural Biology from the State University of Campinas (1987) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. (1992). Post-Doctorate at the Università degli Studi di Siena, UNISI, Italy (1994).
Currently, Full Professor at the University of Brasília and a Research Productivity Scholar (PQ 1A) from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development-CNPq. Tutored PET / Biology from 1995 to 2002; institutional coordination of PIBIC from 1999 to 2002; coordination of research support for the Decant of Research and Graduate Studies from 2001 to 2005; vice-director of the Institute of Biological Sciences from 2002-2006, and director from 2006-2012; Vice-rector of UnB from 2012 to 2016. She was Member of the interdisciplinary committee of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel-CAPES (2005-2012); and member of the Morphology area committee of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development - CNPq (2011-2016).
With the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - CAPES, she was a member of the Superior Council from 2017 to 2020 and Director of Evaluation from 2018 to 2020. At the Brazilian Society of Microscopy and Microanalysis - SBMM, she served as Treasurer (1993-1995), Vice-President (2007-2009) and President (2011-2014). She served as a member of the Inter-American Committee of Societies of Microscopy-CIASEM, between 2011-2013. She worked with the Financier of Studies and Projects-FINEP, as a consultant, from 2003 to 2019. Work with the Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa do Distrito Federal (FAPDF), as a consultant since 2004, and as a member of the Superior Council from 2004- 2007. She has scientific technical collaborations with national institutions (UNICAMP; UECE; UFRN; UFV and UFG) and foreign institutions (Universität Leipzig, Germany; University of Vigo, Spain and Harvard Medical School, United States).
Acts as a reviewer for more than 15 scientific journals, most of which are international. She has experience in Morphology, with emphasis on Structural Biology, working mainly on the following topics: reproduction, host-pathogen interaction and nanobiotechnology. She is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. SBPC Regional DF Secretary (2021-2023).
